Liverpool To Sack Eight Players on June 30

Liverpool have confirmed eight players will be released by the club on June 30, including full-back Nathaniel Clyne.

The former Southampton defender has not made a single appearance for the Reds this season, and has only played 10 times in the previous three campaigns.

Clyne’s Anfield career has been hampered by injury, and has found minutes hard to come by since Trent Alexander-Arnold’s breakthrough.

The versatility of Joe Gomez and James Milner, as well as the emergence of young right-back Neco Williams have pushed Clyne further down the pecking order, and his departure comes as little surprise.

His only action of real note in recent seasons has been a brief loan spell at Bournemouth

While Liverpool moved to keep hold of Adam Lallana until the end of the season, they were willing to let Clyne go early.

His contract is set to expire next week and Liverpool have opted not to offer him a short-term extension.

The 29-year-old is on a list of eight players to depart, which also includes a host of academy youngsters.
